Taya Rogers: Beating the Eat
Burgers, shakes, and cakes; pizza, pasta and potatoes. Conventional wisdom dictates that soul food is bad for the heart, yet many of us still live to eat. The thought of following strict, bland diets never fails to make the foodie in us die a little inside, but good food doesn’t have to mean bad health.
Thumb through Taya’s Instagram feed, and you’ll find snaps of sumptuous spreads from time to time. Not that they slow her down — Taya’s intense workout routines make short work of hearty meals, and she juggles hosting, acting and modelling work whilst hopping across the globe.
This week, we warm up with Taya for her take on diets, sleep schedules and what to do to stay fabulously fit.
What’s keeping you busy these days?
I’ve been all over lately from guest hosting shows, traveling for work and leisure, planning my wedding, keeping fit, doing Influencer work, oh and my fiancée and I recently opened a cafe in Bangkok, called Sarnies!
What are your usual workouts? Any activities you particularly enjoy, in and out of the gym/studio?
I used to love cardio but the past few years it’s been difficult getting myself to go for a run or to Muay Thai — luckily, I found F45 / HIIT Circuit Training and get my cardio fix in at least twice a week. I mix that with reformer Pilates and yoga and I’m toned and fit enough to eat whatever I want, because diets suck and I don’t believe in them.
Are you a night owl or a morning person
I’m both, which makes for very little sleep. I’m working on that though — sleep is so important!
What keeps you up in the morning/night?
I love waking up for an adventure or knowing I’ve got something good to look forward to, whether that’s work or a good workout.
What are the 3 words that describe you?
Optimistic, adventurous, driven.
