Find Yourself with Tiffany Tan
When you first meet Tiffany, you get an immediate sense that beyond her girlish laughter and her overall lightness of being, lies a woman that can pack a powerful punch. Having taken her classes at Uppercut, Tiffany leads her classes with precision and a cool girl vibe that’s undeniably her own.
Dressed in Tommy Hilfiger denim overalls -- a throwback to the good old 90s (we want those so badly), she walks us through her other passion - illustration. The mural, she explains, as she runs her hands across the freshly painted vibrant colors, is an exploration of nature and its beauty. With a curious eye for anatomical structure (the tiger for instance, is the subject of her study in her mural) and botany (her sketches of flowers bring to mind scientific charts of flora and fauna), Tiffany’s work celebrates the cyclical nature of life and death in motion.
In our video interview with Tiffany, her coyness and softness (admittedly) something we didn’t naturally anticipate given her badass instagram, but it did allow us to break down the preconceived stereotypes of female boxers in our heads. As she declares boldly, “one thing you might not know about me, is that I probably eat more than you”, you know you’re speaking to someone who values balancing her diet with her training (she burns thousands of calories a day, thanks to her active workouts and classes she teaches throughout the week).
As time went on during filming, we also began to see how her deft hands produced both strength (fast fists of fury, anyone?) and delicate fluidity. While weightlifting, her preservation of the perfect form also showcased her attention to detail perfectly, which in turn, we realized, was the perfect metaphor for Tiffany -- the keen eyed illustrator, who admires not only the natural state of the world, but also pays attention to her own physicality.
Check out Tiffany’s story in her video! We’d love for you to find Tiffany on ClassPass, and mostly, find yourself on ClassPass this January -- whether you’d like to startup up a new routine, begin packing a punch or want to try some new deadlift moves, we’ve got you covered.
