Find Yourself with Natalie Soderstrom
One of the most striking things about Natalie, as we begin this interview, is her accent. Sounding like an eclectic mix of Australian and American, we find out that she is of Thai and Swedish heritage, a definitive nod to the wonderfully global village of Hong Kong, where we often see a mix of both local and expat ClassPassers working out side by side.
A self proclaimed nerd (she spent alot of time in the library as a child), Natalie is a holistic health coach and yoga instructor at Kita Yoga, one of the most peaceful studios we’ve seen in HK. A calming presence, it’s no wonder that Natalie, who also exudes a stillness and groundedness one needs in a teacher, teaches here.
Without missing a beat on this tranquil morning, Natalie talks us through her passions -- reading and eating well. In addition to her journey as a yogi, Natalie tells us about her diet, and fluidly moves through the kitchenette, assembling a green breakfast bowl with kale, bananas, almonds, and blueberries. As she takes us through one of her yoga flows, it’s clear to us that Natalie embraces the fullness and quality of a purpose driven life, and that the quality of life one leads is driven through variety of things that include a community, finding peace through practice, intellectual stimulation through thoughtful reading, and eating mindfully.
We’re inspired and we hope you are too to try a little yoga, and find a little mindfulness. We urge you to find Natalie on ClassPass, and book yourself a session with her at Kita Yoga. Check out her video below:
